Job Scheduler
The integrated job scheduler allows you to perform unattened, periodic backups of
your virtual infrastructure. Now this scheduler runs as Windows Service. In addition,
Jobs can be started through the GUI or using the command line interface.
Flexible backup target configuration
Every customer has different requirements and environments for creating backups.
VM Explorer supports many different scenario and backup targets as ESX Servers,
Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and SAN.
Dynamic Compression
To make use of slow network links (e.g., for wide-area replication) or to save space
on the target system, backups can be dynamically compressed.
Full and Incremental Backups
In addition to full backups VM Explorer supports Changed Block Trakcing (CBT) to
create incremental backups. Restore your backups to any version in the history.
Instant Replication
With instant replication you can replicate any VM to another ESX host which can then
be used for disaster recovery. The VM is automatically registered to your backup
ESX server and ready to run. If change tracking is enabled, VM Explorer will replicate
only the changes to the new target host.
File level restore
Directly restore a single file from any backup (FAT, NTFS and EXT) without
restoring the full backup. VM Explorer provides a integrated file leve restore
function.
Server to Server fast copy
Allows you to copy files and backups directly between ESX, Linux and FreeBSD servers
at full speed: throughput is only limited by the available network/storage system
bandwidth.
Complete overview
Often it becomes a problem to keep the overview about all backups you have created.
Especially if your data center is large and you have many backup jobs running. VM
Explorer keeps a simple overview containing all backups which can be filtered and
sorted by your needs. Restore your backups from this overview with only a few clicks.
Detailed reporting
Email reporting about the status of your backups is very important. Since version
3.5 VM Explorer supports a very detailed email report containig all relevant information
about the occured backup jobs. These reports can also be viewed anytime from the
backup history.
