Key features and benefits

Easy to install and use
VM Explorer® is easy to install and ready to use within a few minutes. Download size of the software is less than 20MB and installation requires only a few clicks. No additional software or dedicated VM on your ESX or Hyper-V server is needed.

Fair and simple pricing
VM Explorer® is licensed on the basis of an extremely simple pricing model – per installation and not per ESX/Hyper-V host or core. In most cases, only one license is required to back up your entire infrastructure.

Multi-hypervisor support
VM Explorer® integrates VMware vSphere/ESX/ESXi (including ESXi free) and Microsoft Hyper-V server in the same software.

Job scheduling made easy
The integrated job scheduler allows you to perform unattended, periodic back-ups of your virtual infrastructure. The scheduler runs as a Windows service. Jobs may also be started through the graphical user interface or the command line interface.

Flexible configuration
Customers have widely differing requirements and environments for the creation of back-ups. VM Explorer® supports numerous scenarios and back-up targets – such as ESX Servers, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and SAN.

Dynamic compression
To make use of slow network links (e.g. for wide area replication) or to save space on the target system, back-ups can be dynamically compressed.

Full and incremental backups
In addition to full back-ups, VM Explorer® supports Changed Block Tracking (CBT) for the creation of incremental back-ups – enabling you to restore your back-ups to any version in their history.

Replication for disaster recovery
Point-in-time replication makes it possible to replicate any VM on another host, which can then be used for disaster recovery. This VM is automatically registered to your back-up server and ready to run. If change tracking is enabled, VM Explorer® will replicate any changes on the new target host.

File level restoration
Directly restore any single file from any back-up (FAT, NTFS and EXT) without restoring the full back-up. VM Explorer® provides an integrated file level restore function.

Server-to-server fast copying
VM Explorer® allows you to copy files and back-ups directly and at maximum speed between ESX, ESXi, Hyper-V, Linux and FreeBSD servers. Throughput is limited only by the available network/storage system bandwidth.

An overview of all backups
VM Explorer® maintains a simple overview of all back-ups. This list can be filtered and sorted according to your requirements. Restoring back-ups from this overview requires only a few clicks.

Detailed status reporting
Email reporting regarding the status of your back-ups is essential. VM Explorer® supports very detailed email reporting, covering all relevant information concerning back-up jobs performed. These reports can also be viewed at any time through your back-up history.

Free support!
Trilead® offers free support to all customers using the latest version of VM Explorer.

More highlights

- Email reporting and notification
- • Application-consistent back-ups using memory snapshots
- Supports all OS supported by VMware ESX/ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V server
What's new?
The new release introduces fully integrated support for Microsoft Hyper-V server (backup, restore and replication). The two-in-one integration comes without any additional costs to the customers. At the same time, VM Explorer® 4.0 remains simple and reliable. In this way, if the user’s virtualization infrastructure evolves, becoming a heterogeneous system, VM Explorer® 4.0 will be easily integrated into the new environment.
